[d]vision: Platform for Digital Culture Vienna
[d]vision and its team provide a platform for digital art and organise interdisciplinary festivals in the middle of Europe. [d]vision tries to connect analogue and digital aspects, reasonable media perception and active do-it-yourself-culture. Since its foundation as a project of film and media students in the year 2000, [d]vision has noticed and documented different developments within digital art from different points of view. Within its events ‘electronic kindergarten’ and ‘digitalBIEDERMEIER’ [d]vision made a focal point on media theory between privacy and publicity, as well as a historical examination of the gaming culture.
[d]vision: Demoscene Platform Vienna
[d]vision approached the digital culture movement „demoscene“ with its creative output since the festival ‘electronic kindergarten’ in the year 2001. The digital image dimensions between code, graphic and music with its specific language originate from the roots of digital culture of the eighties, as crackers used to annihilate copy protection of websites and presented their programming skills within short animations. Since the year 2007 [d]vision identifies itself as a platform for the international demoscene in Vienna. The group organises public meetings on a monthly basis. With its project of the „realtime generation“ festival for computer animations, [d]vision aims to offer a deeper impact on this dynamic subculture for the public.
